Tell us about JINDA Photography:
We are Jin and Linda, a wedding and lifestyle photography team based in Seattle. We both grew up here in the northwest and met years ago at the Bite of Seattle where we pretty much fell in love. A bit later we also fell in love with our first DSLR camera that we bought at good old Costco! That first camera had us discover a fun new hobby which then took us down an amazing journey discovering a love for capturing and creating images of people more than any other subject and now here we are privileged to do something so fulfilling and expressive for both our clients and ourselves.

What makes your company unique?
I come from a very technical background and Linda from a design field and that combination definitely helped create a great marriage for running JINDA. We both knew early on in our relationship that we had alot of the same visual and design tastes and that has helped us to establish a clear style, feel and brand to our photography. Also because we care so much about the quality of the service and products we deliver, we made the decision from day one to only take on a limited amount of weddings per year. This has allowed us to give our all to each and every one of our awesome clients without getting burned out and staying fresh and energized in what we do.

What is your philosophy with working with brides?
Proactive communication and setting expectations of what's to come, how things are going to play out and guiding them where they're seeking help or don't know to ask goes a long ways in ensuring an awesome experience. It's not every day people get married and know the ins and outs of how to plan for it so just like it's great to hire a wedding planner, we make it as easy as possible for our couples when it comes to the photography. We keep things very simple from beginning to end like from what options we offer which won't make your head spin to helping them get started with the day of timeline that they can tweak to make their own. We even create a wedding website for our clients so they don't have to deal with the technical aspects of putting together a site. Basically it's a good mix of educating, communicating, and keeping it simple which we found works great and results in very happy clients.

What is your advice for couples in selecting a wedding photographer?
The one thing we can't stress enough is to make sure your photographer is someone you absolutely feel comfortable around and genuinely like as a person. The best way to know is by meeting them before booking even if you've been emailing and conversing over the phone. Sometimes that's not possible but if you're both local, definitely meet up. There's no substitute for meeting someone in person and just like a blind date, you just don't know if there will be chemistry or not until you interact face to face. It could go great but it might not and I'm sure nobody wants to find out on their wedding day. A great personality goes a long way more than you know when it comes to how people feel and react in front of the camera. That's why this is so important because it directly affects how honest and natural your photos turn out.

What are the current wedding photography trends?
The current trends seem to be towards the film look. Film is awesome and we've been playing around with medium format film for our personal stuff but digital gets the job done for our weddings.

What is the best part of your job?
Sharing the same love, excitement, and rush for our passion with the person you love and embarking on the journey together meeting so many amazing people along the way!
