Anyone who has attended a wedding in the past few years I’m
sure has noticed that the common guestbook has completely changed and there
have been many creative alternatives to take its place! Regardless of how you
choose to have your guests sign in, I definitely think at least having
something simple is necessary so that you can always keep the memories of your
guests on your big day! A few of the more simple ideas that I have seen include
having your guests sign one of your blown-up engagement photos, finger prints
to fill a picture frame of a growing tree or balloons, or a guest book plate!
All of these options are super easy to make! But then there are some more
elaborate ideas that are some of my favorites. A puzzle! Having a blown up
engagement picture created into a puzzle, then have guests sign the back. A
guest book quilt. Hang a rather plain quilt with small different colored
squares all over, have your guests sign a square, and then use it for endless
cuddles with your love! Creating your own Jenga game and have guests sign each
block. One of my favorites, a “date jar” for guests to write down what their
favorite date is that they think the new married couple should try! And my
absolute favorite idea is to create a time capsule for you and your husband for
your 1 year, 5 year, and or 10 year anniversary! Have guests write down a piece
of advice, some kind words, or anything that they would like into your time
capsule and you then wait to open it for your anniversary! I’ve also seen a lot
of Polaroid pictures for guest books, and the most elaborate was from a winter
wedding where guests signed paper snowflake ornaments and placed them on two
frosty Christmas trees, gorgeous! There’s really so many different ways that
you can create your own personal idea for a guest book, there are only a few of
my favorite ones!

Twinkle Toes, Yes- Toes
Feet are the subject of this blog post today ladies and gents. Brides spend hours, even days, sometimes months looking for the perfect dress. Now, don't get me wrong- the dress is very important. But, every woman has a Carrie Bradshaw living inside of them that desperately wants a killer pair of pumps for their big day. Now, if you know me, you know that I love shoes. My shoes have their own personal bookcases in my master bedroom. Don't worry, they are organized by color. So, this blog post is dedicated to my most favorite possessions- shoes.
You have the dress. Now, let's hunt for the perfect pair of shoes. Wedding shoes don't have to be plain, or white. Add a little spice, color, and pizzazz under all those layers of tulle. Brides are opting for shoes that have character to them. I have seen bling, color, and lace- and I couldn't be happier about it. So ladies, why not spring for something a little special, after all, you're gonna need some stellar shoes to dance the night away in.
Badgley Mischka doesn't need an introduction. It's a household name in the wedding and evening gown world. Words are not necessary, just go ahead and scroll through these pretty little babies.
Now we wouldn't be true to Carrie Bradshaw without featuring my personal favorites, Manolo Blahnik. Save a little extra for these babies, but I tell you, they are worth it people!
So go on and treat your feet to something sweet.

Bride Personality Types: ISTJ Bride!
Find out your Bride Personality Type here!
http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
The Myers-Brigg Test has indicated 16 different personality types based on how people interact with the world, absorb information, make decisions, and organize thoughts.
This week we are introducing the one and only ISTJ bride! They don't call her the "Logistician" for nothing. (Say that three times fast!)
1. Known for her loyalty and faithfulness, this bride is adored for her dependability and integrity (this girl needs to run for office!). George Washington, Natalie Portman, and Warren Buffet can proudly rock the ISTJ Badge just to name a few. But with great strengths, comes great compromises. ISTJ's can be notorious for their inability to express emotion and feelings. However, this does not stop the ISTJ bride from her innate duty to pull off a grand-master wedding! Don't expect this bride to be asking for help! "Bride Most Likely to Single-Handedly Pull Off an Amazing Ceremony and Reception with Supernatural Powers Badge" awarded right here!
2. This woman likes to get stuff done (can I get an amen!). She's a planner and an organizer and happily lives in the world of logic and objectivity. Also known as the "inspector", the ISTJ bride collects small details in her quiet mind that she later uses to form a big picture. This introspective woman will likely have a smaller wedding however, the amount of planning and vivid detail in every aspect of her ceremony will have already been carefully strategized long before her best friend was planning the Las Vegas bachelorette party.
3. Jobs most likely to intrigue an ISTJ include accountant, biologist, computer scientist, criminal justice, and business administration just to name a few. It is obvious that this woman has a strong mind and can basically accomplish anything she puts it to. Be mindful to hold yourself as accountable as this woman does because she takes justice and responsibility very seriously! Rest assure that this bride will be holding her bridal party, venue manager, caterer, DJ, and fiancé allll accountable to ensure that everything goes according to plan!
4. The ISTJ Bride's love language is typically centered around "acts of service" so she's naturally attracted to hard working people. She loves rules, regulations, and security which implies that the love of her life will make vulnerability safe for her (as all husbands should!). Who doesn't love a woman with a bright sense of morals and ethics? You go ISTJ bride!
See you next week!

What happens if you get sick on wedding day?
Getting sick happens and often brides who are stressed fall victim and even sometimes on wedding day. If you feel like you may be getting sick, take the proper precautions. Lots of fluids and medication if applicable.
If you wake up on wedding day not feeling your best, our biggest piece of advice is if you take any kind of medication, make you you eat and lot of fluids (remember alcohol does not mix).

Styling Sunday 6: The ABC's behind the "I Do's" Part 2
Hi, again! Welcome to this week's installment of my aisle ABC's where I shall entice you with my love of backdrops. (If you missed last week, check out my "A" post about altars here!) Let's not waste any time. This styling bit is easily one of my favorites...
Follow along next Sunday when I'll finish up with our "C": Canopies! That one will be a fun one too. Can't wait to show you what I've found. Until then, happy styling, everyone.
xoxo, Kim
Backdrops aren’t just for your photobooth anymore. They are increasingly becoming more common in ceremonies. I just might be the biggest backdrop advocate of them all. There are so many options and so much personality in a backdrop. It’s easier to go a little more unconventional and contemporary as far as décor and design goes because there’s really no limit.
1. Being a hand-letterist, I beyond appreciate the upper left photo. The time, precision and patience that took? Incredible. To get the look, utilize a roll of paper with a favorite passage or quote written across. Continue to unroll the paper down the aisle for maximum effect. (Source)
2. Interior Designer, Lindye Galloway is truly my backdrop idol. That brightly striped Kate Spade-inspired installation was made from large PVC pipes! Get outta here with that genius, you. (Source)
3. Lindye also designed that nautical "moon gate" made of teal and white painted pieces of wood. In. Love. (Source)
4. Go super modern like Jesi Haack did with an awesome mid-century inspired sunburst paired with some Eames chairs. (The interior design student in me says, "Yes, please!") (Source)
5./6. Don't wanna get too crazy with the power tools? Opt for multiple strands of flowers like those Easter lilies on the lower right (Source). Or perhaps ribbons, lace, or lights. That lower left lighting photo might be the most re-pinned wedding photo ever, but it's so magical and classic. (Source)
While these are all super creative and personal ideas, the possibilities are endless! These are just a few of my favorite categories and innovative ideas.

Drink Ideas for the Littles
Weddings are often an opportunity for the whole family to be together in one place, at the same time. They are a rare and cherished occasion for more than the bride and groom, but for all those in attendance, even the youngsters. We have all seen the adorable nieces and nephews make their stumbley walk down the aisle, delicately plucking one. petal. at. a . time. from their baskets, or fumbling to dig the precious metals from their pockets. And as cute as those littles are, their part in the wedding from there has largely been forgotten- until now. Browse the images below for a handful of ideas to put the spotlight back on those tiny thirsty tikes. I’m willing to bet, your aunts and uncles will snag a root-beer float too.

Perfect Gift Ideas for your Girls
I wrote last week about ideas on gifts for the mother and
father of the bride and for the groom on your wedding day. But thought that I
should save gift ideas for your bridesmaids for a whole separate post! So here
it is! The ultimate guide to bridesmaid gifts! Now there isn’t a need to go
toooo over-the-top for these gifts, because I promise you, they are already so
over-the-top excited to be in your wedding! But it’s always fun to spoil your
best girls a little bit. I think the most popular idea for bridesmaid gifts
right now is creating a little “survival kit” for them. Including but not
limited to: nail polish, chocolate, lip gloss, alcohol, mints, a little
perfume, earrings, personalized shot glasses or champagne flute, maybe a few
granola bars to keep em’ going, and so much more. Whatever you can think of!
Jewelry is a very traditional bridesmaid gift. Something for
them to wear the day of the wedding, and also serves as a very memorable party
favor for them!
Satin robes are both elegant and practical for your girls. They
are perfect for everyone to wear while getting ready that morning while still
looking great for pictures.
A personalized zip up sweatshirt could also serve that same
purpose. Maybe have “bridesmaid” in cursive or rhinestones on the back? Just a
thought…
I’ve also seen a lot of brides get personalized hangers for
their bridesmaid’s dresses. I love the cursive names written in the wire, or at
the top of the wooden hanger. (Another great party favor!)
And basically anything with a monogram! Flasks, wine
glasses, key chains, a small tote bag, tumblers or water bottles, etc. your
opportunities are endless!

Crop Tops, Say What?
Yes, you read it right.Today, I'm talking about crop tops on a wedding blog... Crop tops in wedding gowns may sound absurd or perhaps a little too Cochella for some of you, but let me tell you these midriff bearing gowns are the latest apple of my eye. Designers are jumping on board with the crop top trend. Crop top gowns are EVERYWHERE. The majority of these gowns and pieces feature bohemian accents that would tie in perfectly with an organic affair. Let me tell you- these crop tops aren't just for the boho, floral crown loving bride. Even the Audrey Hepburn in you has to get a little excited.
You may be thinking, how can you be a fan of these Rachel? Aren't these a little seductive for a wedding now? Well, yes and no ladies. These aren't for the every day bride, but if you're daring enough give these a try. They are fashion forward, but add a just a bit vintage flair to your wedding day. Believe it or not, the classic structures of the skirts provide a timeless look. They look classy, fashion forward, and will leave you're guests and fiancé breathless. I'm a fan, if you aren't convinced yet take a look for yourself. Ready, set, okay- you can go ahead and gush now.
So grab your inner Cochella and Audrey and head down to your nearest bridal store. DO IT.
XO
Rachel

How to choose your wedding style?
When
planning a wedding a bride has so many choices that can be completely
overwhelming and before any planning can start she must decide on a wedding
style. Does she want a formal black tie affair or a romantic whimsical,
outdoorsy style wedding? Once you decide on your style, the actual planning of
the wedding will be much easier. In order to choose a style there are a couple
of questions you should ask.
1) What
time of year do I want my wedding? You most likely would not want to have an
outdoor forest wedding in the middle of December, so the time of year matters
to the specific style of wedding you want.
2)Next ask
yourself if you want a really big wedding or a more intimate affair.
3)When
thinking about my wedding, what three adjectives come to mind? If your
adjectives are elegant, classy, and modern your wedding style will be much
different from a wedding that is casual, relaxed, and festive.
4) Knowing
what time of year you want your wedding can also help you pick the colors of
your wedding. If you choose to get married in October than oranges, olive
greens, and deep plum purples would be an excellent color scheme. You probably
will not be seeing a lot of baby pink and light green in a fall/winter wedding.
5) Lastly,
decide if you want a wedding planner, and if you do want one decide how much
you want the planner to be involved. Having a wedding planner can take so much
of the stress away. They will be that middleman to deal with all the vendors
and make it so you have a fun and stress free wedding planning process. Not to
mention they will be your saving grace come your actual wedding day. Let’s face
it, who wants to be setting up there own tables and going on ice runs the day
of their wedding. A wedding planner is also a great choice because they can
help you figure out what you want if you are not completely sure.
Every
bride is different and no matter what they choose, as long as the bride is
happy you really cannot go wrong.

Styling Sunday 5: The ABC's behind the "I Do's"
Behind the “I do’s” are memories, history and a magical love
story that’s all your own. But, quite
literally, what’s behind you? What will
you choose to surround you and your partner as you say your vows? I’ve broken it down into three simple categories:
A, B and C. Altars, Backdrops and Canopies!
Oh my! These design aspects are a great way to introduce your wedding's theme because the ceremony is usually the first item on the agenda, am I right? How you style your aisle really sets the tone.
At first I thought about giving you all the low-down on all three categories today, but I thought I'd better stretch out the process over three weeks and give you one letter at a time. More dedication to each category that way. So, today: Altars!
At first I thought about giving you all the low-down on all three categories today, but I thought I'd better stretch out the process over three weeks and give you one letter at a time. More dedication to each category that way. So, today: Altars!
Out of the three categories, altars are the least common. They aren't often seen in weddings these days. At least, not often in the weddings I've worked. Sometimes they are seen in addition to a canopy, but usually not on their own. Despite their rarity, they are beautiful just the same. They are traditionally used in religious ceremonies
or rituals. Altars are typically flat
tables where perhaps flowers, a unity candle or other ceremonial trinkets are
placed. If your wedding takes place in a
church, obviously an altar will make an appearance. Don’t let their origins fool you,
though. You can easily utilize a console
table or vintage buffet for your outdoor wedding. Even a faux-fireplace makes for a pretty alternative. There is much beauty in the simplicity of a bare
altar, but piling on dense strands of flowers, leaves or candles is quite exquisite,
too. (That elaborate tree stump altar! Be still, my heart!)

Destination Wedding Spots: Historical Italian Churches- Religious Ceremonies
Ciao from Italia!
I am currently in the midst of studying abroad in Rome,
Italy! From the beginning of April to mid-June I will be spending my time
studying, traveling throughout Italy as well as in nearby countries, and
finding the most beautiful and unique wedding destination spots to share with
all of you! From historical churches to outdoor venues Italy has so much to
offer you on your special day. If you are interested in having your own
destination wedding or are simply intrigued with the beauty and history behind
these venues be sure to keep an eye out for my posts!
One of my first days in Rome, Italy we had a walking tour
throughout the city, highlighting places such as the Pantheon, Saint Peter’s
Basilica, and San Clemente. Though these specific churches are reserved for
religious ceremonies rather than civil ones, you are able to arrange your
wedding in all public churches within Rome. If you are a devout Catholic and
Rome is your calling I would highly advise looking into any one of these
beautiful and historically rich locations.
The Pantheon was
built during a 3 year period between 27 BC and 14 AD by Marcus Agrippa and was
later destroyed and rebuilt in the year 110 AD. From the outside view, the
Pantheon consists of 16, 39 by 5 foot granite columns. Directly in front of the building is a
beautiful 16th century marble fountain “Fontana del Pantheon”, (an
excellent photo op!) From the inside, the 150 foot diameter circular room is
engulfed in lavish textiles, engravings, and sculptures that are meticulously
painted in soft neutral colors. There is a hole in the center of the dome
shaped roof, allowing for fresh air and natural light to fill the room (be sure
to consider the weather if booking a ceremony, a potential down pour might call
for a pair or two of rain-boots). Between two massive grooved marble columns,
opposite of the entrance, lies the extravagant high alter, covered in marble.
The high alter also contains a copy of the 13th century icon of the
Madonna. If you are a historical buff looking for a religious ceremony in Rome,
Italy the Pantheon may be everything you’ve ever dreamed of!
*Pictures below were taken during my visit to the Pantheon!
Watch out for the next addition to wedding destinations as I
will be traveling north of Rome to the City of Water, Venice!
Till next time,
Lauren Zehnder
