Halloween Party Dessert Table

For our family's 1st Annual Halloween Party, I wanted to create a fun family-friendly event for kids of all ages and where I started was creating a color theme for our party. I used black, green, purple and orange as my inspiration in my decor and my dessert table. For decor, I got a lot of inspiration from this year's Martha Stewart Halloween Magazine which has so many great ideas. For starters I purchased several of her pre-made kits as Jo-Ann fabrics including her spider and bat collections. Then I used my bat cookie cutter to create foam cut-out bats using my color scheme and created a bat cave on a wall in our family room.

For our dessert table, I used a beautiful purple spider web print as our tablecloth and a orange fabric as the covering of my backdrop. For our treats, I create my famous (Funfetti) cake pops, candy-coated marshmallow pops, sugar cookies on a stick, coffin-shaped brownies, candy-coated pretzel sticks, chocolate cupcakes with homemade purple buttercream frosting. For the candy aspect of our table, I used black, orange, purple and green sixlets, lollipops, grape sours, grape gummy bears, green and orange licorice, gummy horrors, candy corn, peanut butter cups (orange and black wrappers) and the very popular sour pumpkins. For our drink of choice, we created our "Bat's Brew," which was 7-Up with black food coloring in milk jugs.

Black and Yellow Graduation Party

To honor my younger sister graduating with her Masters in Education from Pacific Lutheran University, we decided to host a party along with my mom and my sister's boyfriend.

The theme of our event was an ode to Black and Yellow, PLU's colors. I created a dessert buffet table complete with black and yellow sixlets from Sweet Treats & Designs, yellow licorice and I made candy coated cake balls and marshmallows topped off with devil’s food cake cupcakes with homemade yellow buttercream frosting with a black sixlet on top.

As for the décor of the table I used yellow and black tablecloths and I made the tissue paper pom poms.

Easter Egg Hunt kids party

To celebrate the Eater holiday with some of my husband's fraternity brothers and their families, I hosted the 2nd annual Phi Kappa Theta Easter Egg Hunt. The party featured a wonderful assortment of dishes that fit everyone's taste buds. The highlight of the event was that the weather cooperated and it was even warm and sunny out.

Alpha Phi Pacific Northwest Conference

This weekend I had the pleasure of travelling to San Francisco for the 2009 Alpha Phi Pacific Northwest Conference. This was the third conference as the event coordinator.

Planning for this year's event began last summer finalizing dates and a venue to host the 190 participants Alpha Phi Executive Office and Foundation Staff and members of the Alpha Phi International Executive Board and collegians and alumnae from Canada, Washington, Idaho, Oregon and California.

This year's conference was held at the Doubletree Hotel San Francisco Airport. It was a fantastic venue with great staff work with in preparation of the event and the successful execution of the conference.

The theme for this year was Alpha Phi First Class. For Friday night's dinner we used that idea to create a nightclub themed dinner with a purple carpet entrance with VIP check-in.
Saturday night was our Red Dress Gala event to promote cardiac care. The event included a heart healthy version of the Alpha Phi Foundation Price is Right game.
