Welcoming a new Wedding Planner

We are thrilled to introduce our newest Elegant Affairs Wedding Planner Kim Merlich. Kim is not a new face with Elegant Affairs, as this will be her second season with us. Kim served as a Wedding Day Assistant during last year and it was very evident from the beginning that she had what we were looking for.

Kim brings a lot to this role and is a Jill of all trades. She is now booking weddings for 2015 and already has her first one on the books.

From Kim: My name is Kim Merlich and this will be by second wedding season with Elegant Affairs. I began as an intern last summer and assisted Lori, Rachel and Mandi Jo in over 20 of their weddings! I just couldn't get enough. As an Interior Design student my most favorite aspects of wedding and event design are all of the personal touches, arranging tablescapes, and helping create ceiling and wall installations. As the resident hand-letterist of the team, I also love to illustrate calligraphy details for our couples. Lori asked me to become a permanent Elegant Affairs member for this coming season and I couldn't be more thrilled for this awesome opportunity. I can't wait to start booking weddings of my own for 2015!

We are seeking 2015 Wedding Season Interns

2015 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

As an Elegant Affairs in intern, you will learn the ins and outs of wedding and event planning beginning with meeting with potential clients through the planning process until the completion of the event. Interns will research and prep for client meetings, put together inspiration boards, meet with new and existing vendors to create and strengthen relationships and prep for weddings and events. Another facet of the internship includes promoting Elegant Affairs to new and potential clients and vendors utilizing social networks.

 

This is an UNPAID internship. This internship is located in Washington state (we are located in Puyallup, 45 minutes south of Seattle) and you must provide your own transportation as we drive A LOT to and from meetings and events. You must be available Friday-Sundays for our events throughout our wedding season and must to be at least 18 years of age. This position does have the ability to grow into something more depending on performance.

What the internship is:

... Climbing, hanging, folding, arranging, setting up, fixing, running, rearranging anything and everything

What the internship isn't:
... like anything you've seen in the movies (ie. The Wedding Planner)

... Permanent (internship will span early spring + summer/fall)
... Full-time (about 10-20 hours per week when we have events)

... A WEDDING Inspiration Board (Theme: Simple Elegance). Make it fun, interesting and not something I've seen a thousand times. The only rule? Your inspiration board needs to include a wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, color swatch, bouquet and décor elements. Your inspiration board must be in the form or a jpeg or PDF file.
